Omani house Amouage has expanded its Exceptional Extraits collection with two new creations: Decision 42<\/strong> and Overture 41<\/strong>. The launches place concentration, aging and olfactory construction at the center of the proposition.<\/p>\n

Decision 42 contains a 42% perfume oil concentration<\/strong>, while Overture 41 contains 41%<\/strong>. According to Amouage, both undergo six weeks of aging.<\/p>\n

Decision 42: Quentin Bisch revisits the structure of Decision<\/h2>\n

Decision 42 is signed by perfumer Quentin Bisch<\/strong>. The opening combines pink pepper, bergamot, cardamom, neroli and cinnamon.<\/p>\n

The heart features frankincense, juniper, myrrh, sandalwood and rectified pine tar. The base combines patchouli, cedar, vanilla and labdanum.<\/p>\n

The structure reinforces a woody, aromatic, resinous and spicy aesthetic, with a concentration far above that found in many traditional Eau de Parfums.<\/p>\n

Overture 41: spices, roses and leather<\/h2>\n

Overture 41 was created by perfumer Annick Menardo<\/strong>. The fragrance opens with frankincense, Calvados and saffron.<\/p>\n

Centifolia rose and sandalwood continue the composition in the heart. The base works with vanilla, labdanum, patchouli and leather.<\/p>\n

The result fits the dense, sophisticated language that has made the Omani house a reference in contemporary haute perfumery.<\/p>\n

What do the numbers 42 and 41 mean?<\/h2>\n

In this case, the numbers refer directly to the declared perfume-oil concentrations.<\/p>\n

Amouage positions its Exceptional Extraits in a range of approximately 40% to 56%<\/strong>, while its Eau de Parfums sit between 15% and 35%. The house also works with attars at full oil concentration.<\/p>\n

Higher concentration does not simply mean \u201cstronger\u201d<\/h2>\n

It is important to avoid a common simplification: higher concentration does not automatically mean greater projection.<\/p>\n

Changing the ratio between aromatic materials and solvent can also alter evaporation speed, texture, diffusion and the way different raw materials are perceived over time.<\/p>\n

That is why an extrait version can behave differently from an Eau de Parfum, rather than functioning merely as a \u201cmore powerful\u201d copy.<\/p>\n

The trend toward higher concentrations<\/h2>\n

Terms such as Intense, Elixir, Absolu and Extrait appear with increasing frequency in contemporary perfumery. In many cases, these versions help brands create products that feel more exclusive, denser and positioned at higher price points.<\/p>\n

At Amouage, concentration and aging time are part of the house’s own haute-perfumery narrative. Decision 42 and Overture 41 reinforce this strategy and show how the brand continues exploring the boundaries between formula, concentration and maturation.<\/p>\n
